FINA World Junior Diving Championships 2010 - Day 1

1 to 6 September 2010 - Tucson

The first day saw four British athletes in the mix as the competition began with the 1m and 3m Springboard events.

Alicia Blagg and Hannah Starling were the first British athletes that took to the boards and both began the 1m Springboard prelims well. Blagg enjoyed consistency in her dives and qualified for the final in ninth place. Starling was looking close to joining her in the final but dropped her penultimate dive and finished in 14th place to miss the final by just five points.

English Talent Development Programme to train in Cyprus

The English Talent Development Programme (Level 3) will come together for a warm-weather training camp in April when they travel to Cyprus for an intense week of training. A team of around 40 swimmers will be staying at the Coral Bay Beach Resort in Paphos with a view to preparing the athletes that could be selected for the LEN European Junior Swimming Championships in July.

Coral Bay was notably the venue of the swimming squad’s preparation camp ahead of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens where British Swimmers went on to claim two bronze medals.
