FINA World Junior Diving Championships 2010 - Day 1

1 to 6 September 2010 - Tucson

The first day saw four British athletes in the mix as the competition began with the 1m and 3m Springboard events.

Alicia Blagg and Hannah Starling were the first British athletes that took to the boards and both began the 1m Springboard prelims well. Blagg enjoyed consistency in her dives and qualified for the final in ninth place. Starling was looking close to joining her in the final but dropped her penultimate dive and finished in 14th place to miss the final by just five points.

British Gas Tri-Nations Swim Meet 2009

1/2 August 2009 - Crystal Palace

As the British Gas senior swimming squad are finishing their World Championship campaign in Rome, some of Britain’s most promising swimmers will be battling it out for international honours at the British Tri-Nations.

The 40-strong British Gas Tri-Nations team will face tough competition from strong Canadian and Russian squads as it aims to emulate last year’s position at the top of the points table.

Last year’s event, held in Quebec, Canada, saw the British contingent depart with 44 medals, comprising 20 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze, after a very successful meet.

Chris Martin, Head Coach of the British team said: "It’s been a really good summer for British swimming and the Tri-Nations team will be looking to continue that form. In Rome at the moment the teams are all pretty close so we’re expecting some good competition at Crystal Palace."

Many of the team have been busy representing their clubs at the British Gas ASA National Youth Championships 2009 in Sheffield and will hope to be at their best.

The British team will boast new British Record Holder Daniel Sliwinski, the 2008 Junior World champion (100m and 200m Breaststroke) and Ryan Bennett 2008 European Junior gold and silver medallist.
