British Gas Men’s Water Polo team take on Holland

Friday 7 August 2009 (7pm) - Salt Ayre Swimming Pool in Lancaster
Great Britain v Holland (match 1)

Saturday 8 August 2009 (6.30pm ) - Manchester Aquatics Centre, Manchester
Great Britain v Holland (match 2)

Currently preparing for the LEN European B Water Polo Championships in September, the British Gas men’s water polo team see two tough home matches against Holland as a vital step in their preparation and are inviting you to come and watch for free as they battle it out to take top honours.

The British Gas team have continued to perform well recently attending two training camps, the first in Macedonia, where they were triumphant against the reigning World Champions in their second match, and then in Holland where they narrowly missed a victory against the Dutch squad losing by just one goal. They will now host the strong Dutch team for another training camp.

Of the re-match against Holland, World Class Programmes Manager Joanna Wray said: "It will be the same team coming to Britain for this upcoming training camp, and now we know how they play we will be hoping for another good camp with them. Preparations are going well for the boys, although a lot of them have been ill in the recent weeks hopefully that is all behind us now and we will go into the Dutch training camp fully fit."

Following the camp the squad have a tournament in Slovenia against some of the teams that will be competing against them in the European B’s in September.

Wray continued: "It will be good to see how we play against the teams and we are confident of getting some good results. We will then be flying to Lugano, Switzerland, for the start of the Europeans with a 13-strong team."
