FINA World Masters Synchronised Swimming Championships 2010
Great Britain’s Masters Synchro Team followed up the swimmers’ success at the World Masters Championships in Göteborg with medallists in the solo, duet and trio events.
Brighton Dolphin’s Linda Doidge, Elizabeth Fitzsimons and Margaret Hamerton were the only British gold medallists in Sweden, winning the 50-64 trio.
Having scored 58.375 for their technical routine, the trio added another 63.375 in their free to finish on 121.750 – 4.875 clear of nearest challengers SC Delphin Eschweiler of Germany.
LEN European Synchronised Swimming Championships 2010 - Day 5
The British Synchronised Swimming Team, powered by British Gas, continues its impressive rise through world rankings with a fifth place finish in the Duet Final at the LEN European Championships in Budapest.
The Duet of Jenna Randall and Olivia Allison capped off Britain’s best result at a European event since 1995 with a score of 90.300 – 8.400 behind Russia in the gold medal spot followed by Spain, Ukraine and Italy.
Britain’s synchro swimmers placed ninth two years ago at the same event but climbed a further four places today in Budapest with a spider themed routine which saw them overhaul close rivals France.

The British Synchronised Swimming Team, powered by British Gas, secured a strong sixth place in the final of the Team event at the European Championships.
The Brits, who are competing at a European Championships in the Team event for the first time, had a War of the World theme that sees athletes showcase their speed and ability with a sequence of complex moves.

The British Synchronised Swimming Team, powered by British Gas, qualified for the final of the Team event in sixth place at the LEN European Championships.
This is the first time under the leadership of Biz Price that the Brits have entered a European Championship Team event and they started their prelim with the Queen inspired Technical routine.

The British Duet, powered by British Gas, go into the final ranked in fifth place after strong performances on the second day.
Jenna Randall made an impressive return from injury that saw her and Olivia Allison secure an promising fifth place after both the Technical and Free Duet routines.
The Technical Duet which is competed to the Moonlight Sonata showcased the Duet’s new choreography and the Free Routine, which has a spiders theme, gave them the chance to show their creativity.

Saturday 19 June 2010 - Telford.
The British Gas ASA Synchronised Swimming Masters Championships 2010 saw some impressive performances. Former British team member Louise Woolley took top honours in the Solo 20-29 years age group competition. Wooley, competing for Rushmoor, scored an impressive 78.188 to win gold ahead of Walsall’s Zoe Cooper whose 73.188 was enough to earn a silver medal.

The final day of competition saw the medals for the Team and Solo events decided.
Jeanette Francis, Dorset County ASA's President 2009/10 was delighted to be a guest at the event and gives some tips in the video below on how Clubs and teachers can use the National Teaching Plan to encourage girls and boys to try the sport.

The Team Free routine saw Trafford take the victory with a strong performance that saw them crowned British Champions for the first time since 2008.
The Michael Jackson inspired routine saw Trafford show off their creativity and power through the water. Their figures had intensity throughout the programme and they increased their points score with a number of difficult highlights. They won the title with a score of 66.700.
“We all really loved it,” Melissa Halliwell said. “The routine is so much fun. And we chose it because it is so upbeat and we can really interpret the music. It is so good to win gold. It feels like all of our hard work has paid off this weekend. We wanted to go out and perform well for our coaches. They work so hard so we wanted to give them something back. It has been a great moment for all of us.”
Bristol Central took to the platform with a Slumdog Millionaire inspired routine and they showcased creative pattern formations to secure the second place. The team had excellent height on their second lift and finished the routine with a difficult straight line figure. They scored sixes to take them to the silver medal with a total score of 66.550.
British Gas Synchronised Swimming Championships 2010 Day 2
30 April to 2 May 2010 - GL1 Leisure Centre, Gloucester
Rushmoor’s Robyn Bignell and Lucy Hockin claimed gold in the Duet. The pair performed strongly in the Free Routine, scoring a total of 64.825 from the judges. They demonstrated good height on their lift and used creativity in the links throughout the routine.
“That went really well for us,” said Bignell. “We are pleased because it is our first year competing together and we are one of the youngest pairs, so to win makes us happy.”
Trafford demonstrated good speed and height throughout their routine with well executed spins and double arm movements. The duo of Tessa Griffiths and Eniko Toth scored a total of 63.125 to take second place.
The bronze medal was awarded to Bristol Central’s Alexandra O’Mahony and Isobel Collings who scored 61.888 after they showed good musical interpretation throughout the routine.

30 April to 2 May 2010 - GL1 Leisure Centre, Gloucester
Day one got underway with spectacular displays as the Combination Team medals were decided. Trafford swam to the National title in the Combination Team event, delighting the audience with an exciting and lively routine. Good height out of the water and some quick pattern formation changes, along with a somersault saw the team earn high marks from the judges to take gold at this year’s Championships with a score of 71.375.
Trafford swimmer Melissa Halliwell was pleased with the result. “It’s just fantastic,” she said. “We all feel amazing and it’s so good that all of our hard work has paid off. It’s definitely one of our best achievements as a team. Our aim was to pull off the highlights and make everyone smile and I’m pleased that we managed that.”
Second place went to Bristol Central who demonstrated some difficult elements in their routine including a platform lift to earn 70.750. With good height out of the water and excellent speed across the pool the team had impressive highlights and jumps in their routine which was enough to beat rivals Rushmoor into third.
