The ASA Talent Development Water Polo Programme 2010/11

There will be a trial for 95/96, 97/98 and 98/99 age group entry to the Regional Training Centre on Friday 1 October 2010 at Pyramids Pool, Exeter

Please be there at 7pm for registration. The trial starts 7.30 and runs until 9pm. Anyone in the respective age groups is welcome to come to the trial. If unsuccessful on 1 October, names will be kept and players notified should any spaces become available.

Cost of the trial is £5 and if successful, this will be deducted from the term fees of £55. Cheques should be made payable to ASA.

Please can clubs and coaches download and unzip the file for the term timetable and advert. Please display them at your pool or forward to anyone in your club you think may be interested. European SC Champs 2007 Day 4: Team GB ends meet with 40 PBs

The European Short Course Championships came to a conclusion in Debrecen with Team GB finishing the meet with two British Records, two Scottish Records and a total of 40 personal bests.

Todd Cooper (Stirling Swimming) progressed to the semi finals of the 50m butterfly, where he finished in a time of 24.04 to finish 14th overall.

Cooper was also part of the 4x50m freestyle team who squeezed into the final in eighth place. The quartet of Owen Morgan (Godalming ASC), Todd Cooper (Stirling Swimming), Adam Brown (Hatfield SC/Offshore Centre) and Charles Turner (Ealing SC) improved on their heat time (1:28.75) to finish in seventh place with a time of 1:28.11.

European SC Champs 2007 Day 3 - world record for Jovanovic

Katy Sexton produced a great semi final swim to lower the British standard for 50m backstroke on day three of the European Short Course Championships in Debrecen. Sexton (Portsmouth Northsea) finished in a new British Record time of 27.99, which also secured her a place in the final.

The final itself produced another World Record, in what was proving to be a very fast championship.

European SC Champs 2007 Day 2: Scottish records fall

Lewis Smith broke the Scottish Record twice for the 400m IM on day two of the European Short Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary.

The 19 year old from Warrender Baths Club in Edinburgh shaved three seconds off his PB to set a new record of 4:10.88 during the heats. He then went onto better that in the final, finishing 8th in 4:10.70.

The final itself saw local hero Laszlo Cseh break his second World Record of the meet taking gold in 3:59.33. The silver medal was won by Luca Marin of Italy in 4:04.10 with Ioannis Drymonakos of Greece taking bronze in 4:05.08.

European SC Champs 2007 Day 1 - Dunning is a record breaker

Terri Dunning broke the British Record for the 200m butterfly on the first day of competition at the European Short Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary. In what turned out to also be a World Record breaking final, Dunning (Co Birmingham) kept pace with the leaders and was in a bronze medal position going into the final 50m.

As Otylia Jedrzejczak stepped up a gear to take the title in the new record time of 2:03.53, Dunning was just pipped at the finishing line by Germany’s Annika Mehlhorn who took bronze in 2:06.53 ahead of Dunning’s 2:06.54. Hungary’s Emese Kovacs won silver in 2:05.41.
Speaking after the race Dunning was clearly pleased with her performance.
