Sainsbury's UK School Games North East England 2010
Tickets
Tickets for this year's Sainsbury's UK School Games go on sale Monday 10 May 2010
From 2 to 5 September 2010 - Sunderland Aquatic Centre (swimming)
Over 1,600 elite school aged athletes will compete in cycling, athletics, badminton, fencing, gymnastics, hockey, judo, swimming, table tennis and volleyball with disability events in swimming, athletics and table tennis. The Sainsbury's UK School Games are designed to provide an environment which replicates Olympic and Paralympic Games with an opening and closing ceremony and an athlete's village.
Since the first UK School Games, British Swimming has positioned the Sainsbury's UK School Games in the swimmer pathway, sitting just below the top level of swimmers, aged 16 years and under, that enter the European Youth Championships. For disability swimming it sits just below the World Class programme. This offers an opportunity for athletes to take part in a multi sport competition that will provide them with an invaluable educational and inspirational experience. Teams are selected on the basis of their performances in specific events throughout the calendar.
Eight teams representing England North, England Central, England East, England South, Scotland North & West, Scotland South & East, Ireland and Wales.
