Bristol Primary Aquasplash Festivals - Sep 2010

Thursday, 30 September 2010 - Henbury Leisure Centre

Aquasplash Festivals are a chance for pupils to take part in a swimming event designed for all levels. Those taking part will be able to do various activities based on various swimming disciplines including water polo, diving, synchronised swimming and life-saving skills.

The Bristol festivals are supported by the competition manager team, Bristol City Council, the RNLI and local swimming clubs.

David Davies re-focuses Olympic campaign

Olympic silver medallist David Davies has announced that he is to switch his Olympic preparation to Wales in his bid for glory in London.

The Barry-born athlete moved to Loughborough in 2007 and has now decided to return to the City of Cardiff, a club that took him from the ages of 7 to 22. Davies will now rejoin his childhood coach Dave Haller.

“I have found this year tough in terms of my performance both in competitions and in training and I knew that I needed to make a change,” Davies said.

ASA England Talent Development Programmes 2010/11

The ASA England Talent Development Team have produced the selection policies for swimmers and coaching staff for the development programmes 2010/11.

Declarations of availability are invited from Coaches and Team Managers in the South West who are interested in being considered for roles on the England Talent Programme camps.

Details of the athlete and coach selection policy for each programme can be found in the relevant form and the declarations of availability should be filled in and returned by Friday 16 July 2010.to

Open Water training camp draws to safe end

A team of British Open Water swimmers are due to leave Port Grimaud, France safely after avoiding the treacherous floods that have hit the south of France.

The team, powered by British Gas, which features 19 of the country’s best up and coming Open Water swimmers, will begin their trip home on 18 June 2010.

The athletes have remained safe and well since the floods began and are ready to start their competition season. Many of the swimmers will take part in the British Gas Great Swim Series that kicks off this weekend in East Anglia.

Right everyone, it is time to set your digital / video recorders again. Bob Holman of East Dorset Open Water Swimming Club and his friend Dave Pratten are appearing with Robson Green in his Wild Swimming Adventure programme due to go out on ITV1 at 9pm on Tuesday 8 December 2009, with the second part on 15 December 2009.

Blue Peter Badge for Mark Perry

British Swimming’s Mark Perry has been awarded an iconic Blue Peter badge after lending his Open Water expertise to two of the show’s presenters.

Perry, British Swimming’s Open Water Performance Manager, has been coaching Blue Peter presenters Joel Defries and Helen Shelton as they train to take part in the Bosporus Swim in Turkey this summer.
