This is the regional site for swimming, synchronised swimming, open water swimming, diving and waterpolo in the south west of England. Our organisation is affiliated to the Amateur Swimming Association.
The Board is committed to ensuring opportunities that swimmers currently have can continue, whilst working to ensure we are providing the best opportunities for all, and forge working relationships with potential partners for the future.
Regional committees
The role of the Board is:
- Strategic direction
- Governance
- Financial Management
- Addressing Talent, Health, Education and driving forward their development
- Business development
The development of disciplines will be the responsibility of the committees within the strategic direction identified by the Board.
Main Agendas
Following a highly successful training day, held jointly with the South East Region the Regional Board committed to driving forward the main agendasin 2007 of:
- Improving communication
- Workforce Development - specific focus on volunteers
To kick start our campaign to encourage volunteering, the region has produced a flyer which is being distributed to all, in County ASA programmes at events and copies have been sent to all clubs.
The Region have reviewed the capacity of the team, to deliver against regional priorities and this has led to a commitment by the region to continue working with all seven County Sports Partnerships to secure Partnership Swimming Development Officer posts over the next three years.
Planning
Regional Director, Alison Usher and the Board have produced a Swimming Plan for the South West. This strategic plan will be a vision for swimming over the next 4 years. This strategy is inclusive and recognises that there are many providers and participants involved in our sport and the need for a strategy that addresses all. The end result is a strategic document that our partners can buy into and will hit targets for health, education, lifelong participation and success.
For this plan to be effective and mean something to you, we will continue to work to ensure that your issues and priorities are addressed within the plan.
The ASA SW Region Operationaal Plan 07-08 covers Lifelong Participation, Athlete Development, Excellence, Volunteering and Workforce Development, Facilities, National Influence, Equity and Ethics, Governance, Structures and Partnerships, Monitoring and Evaluation.
