British Gas GBR Diving Team ready for world challenge in Shanghai

The British Gas GBR Diving Team is ready to begin their competition at the World Championships in Shanghai after a two week holding camp in Xian, China.

The 11 athletes will take on the best divers in the world as they try to qualify places for Team GB at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Tom Daley and Peter Waterfield are set to feature in both Platform events and will face a tough challenge from world number one diving nation, China, who will be competing on home soil.

The World Championships are the biggest and best diving competition outside the Olympic Games.

And with London 2012 little more than a year away, the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai are the final chance to jostle for position in the world order ahead of the Olympic year.

British Gas GBR Diving Team for FINA World Championships 2011

World Champion Tom Daley and Olympic silver medallist Pete Waterfield will lead the British Gas GBR Diving Team into competition at the World Championships in Shanghai this summer.

The 11 athletes will take on the best in the world as they try to qualify places for the country at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Daley and Waterfield will feature in both men’s Platform events and will face a tough challenge from world number one diving nation, China, who will be competing on home soil. But after beating the Chinese pair in Sheffield at the FINA/Midea Diving World Series the Brits will go into the event with confidence.

Tonia Couch is one of the most experienced female divers on the team and after winning the national title in Leeds she will be aiming for consistency to her performance in Shanghai. She finished eighth in the 10m Platform final at the 2009 World Championships in Rome and will be eager to show how far she has come since then.

British Gas GBR Diving Team for LEN European Junior Diving Championships 2011

29 June 2011 to 3 July 2011 - Republic Institute of Sport - Kosutnjak Center, Belgrade

The British Gas GBR Diving Team for the LEN European Junior Diving Championships in Belgrade has been announced ahead of what will prove to be a tight competition.

The 15 top young divers have been selected based on their performances throughout the year.

In 2010, the divers won seven medals including four titles and for the first timers on the team they will be looking to continue the British success.

The British Diving Team, powered by British Gas, is putting their final touches to their preparations ahead of competition in Montreal’s Olympic pool for the FINA Grand Prix.

The eight-strong team features double World Junior Champion Jack Laugher who has continued to improve since his debut on the senior team.

With the final leg of the FINA / Midea Diving World Series on the horizon, the British Diving Team, powered by British Gas have been putting the final touches to their preparation in Mexico.

The eight-strong team will be competing on the two days of competition in Guanajuato, Mexico and will see gold medallists Peter Waterfield and Tom Daley back on the boards together in the 10m Synchro.

Daley and Waterfield won their first international medal in Beijing as part of the Series and will be looking to continue to put their stamp on the competition.

Brits ready for FINAL / Midea Diving World Series challenge

The British Diving Team, powered by British Gas, are set to test themselves against the best athletes in the world at the first two legs of the FINA / Midea Diving World Series.

The first leg, which takes place on 18-19 March 2011 in Moscow, will see the British contingent face up to the top eight divers in the world in each Olympic discipline.

Tom Daley and Peter Waterfield will lead the Brits into the first of the four legs of the series. And then just a week later they travel to Beijing to compete in the second leg (25-26 March) before returning to the UK to challenge for honours in Sheffield on 15-16 April.

2nd Arena European Diving Championships 2011

The British Diving Team, powered by British Gas, have travelled to Turin and are finalising their preparations for the European Diving Championships.

The six day competition, which begins on 8 March 2011, will see divers looking to put in steady performance ahead of selection for the World Championships in Shanghai this summer.

Brooke Graddon returns to the competition as reigning bronze medallist from the women’s 10m Platform and after being unable to compete at the British Gas National Cup in January she will be hungry to prove she is back on form.
