A total of 31 counties contested this year's competition, with results from each regional meet being combined to produce the overall national result.

British Gas ASA National Masters and Senior Age Group Championships 2011 - Day 3

28 to 30 October 2011 - Ponds Forge

The morning session saw more records broken in the Womens Open 400m Medley Team heats. In the 72+ age group, the Swindon Dolphins team consisting of Miriam Bermingham, Anna Roger, Kathleen Baker and Louise Maynard touched in 4:49.69 to take the British Record.

Northampton’s Karen Ross, Karen Key, Maria Kelly and Sarah Noble-Kendrick took the European and British records with a time of 4:35.57 in the 120-159 category. Amanda Heath, Diane Ford, Linda Brown and Carol Fellows for Spencer Swim Team took the World, European and British record with their time of 5:37.82.

In the Mens Open 50m Breaststroke the 25-29, 40-45 and 50-54 age groups all had British Records broken. Chris Aust of City of Oxford touched in 28.84, Nicholas Polkingham of GB police touched in 29.90 and Salisbury’s David Bryant finished in a time of 31.54.

28 to 30 October 2011 - Ponds Forge

GB Police set a new World, European and British Record of 3:42.99 in the 100-119 years 4x100m Mixed Freestyle. Romford Town, City of Oxford and Gloucester Masters broke the British Records for the 120-159, 160-199 and 200-239 age groups.

GB Police Women’s 100-119 years 4x50m Medley team claimed a British Record in the third session of the day, touching in a time of 2:03.62. While in the Men’s 160-199 age group, Chatteris also took to the top step of the podium and set a new British Record of 1:51.83.

Simon Veale (Totnes) set a European and British Record, in the Men’s 55-59 years 50m Backstroke. Veale touched in 30.47 to take his second record of the meet. Lee Peterson (Braintree) and Neil MacKinnon (Trafford) also broke British Records in the 35-39 and 70-74 years age categories respectively.

Day 1

Linda Ashmore (Weyport Masters) shaved valuable seconds off both the European and British Records, to take the top step of the podium in the Women’s 1500m Freestyle for the 65-69 years age group.

Simon Veale (Totnes) broke the British Record in the Men’s 100m Backstroke 55-59 years age group, touching in a time of 1:07.91.

Veale said, “I’m pleased with my time tonight. I’ve got another five races still to come and it would be nice to break a few more records, we’ll just have to wait and see.”

British Gas Masters and Senior Age Group Championships 2011

17 to 19 June 2011 - Leeds

World, European and British Records have been set at the British Gas Masters and Senior Age Group Championships 2011.

Loughborough University’s Sophie Casson was on World Record breaking form on the first day of the British Swimming Masters Championships in Leeds. Competing in the 25-29 age group, Casson broke the World, European and British records for the 400m, 800m and 1500m Freestyle events.

Jane Asher, of Kings Cormorants, also set a new World record in the 50m Butterfly competition for the 80-84 age group. She set the new time of 46.21 to take the title.

The Birmingham Masters and Gloucester Masters clubs claimed a World Record apiece during the 4 x 100m Freestyle relay finals.

The team from Birmingham took the title and World Record in a time of 4.09.97 for the 200-239 age group and the Gloucester squad, in the 280-319 age group, touched in 5.03.72 to take the win and record.

South West round of ASA National Inter-County Masters 2010

21 November 2010 - Sherborne

Devon 212, Dorset 204.5, Wiltshire 158, Somerset 92.5

Dorset kept within a point or two of winners Devon for most of the gala, eventually finishing just 7.5 points adrift. Jean Howard-Jones, 67, the oldest woman in a 33-strong Dorset team whose ages ranged from 21 to 70, swam six times and won all six – the individual women’s 65/o event on each stroke and two relays.

The results combined with those from other English regions have produced a national result showing final placings.
