The ASA has expanded its swim21 accreditation programme to include learn-to-swim schemes and school swimming programmes as well as clubs. swim21 becomes the governing body’s blue print for good practice and an easy recognisable seal of quality for swimmers and their parents.

As of September 2009 swim21 Learn to Swim (**) and School Swimming Accreditation (***) replaced the former Aquamark scheme, reducing the self assessment length and paperwork but improving the quality by aligning it to the National Plan for Teaching Swimming, Long Term Athlete Development and UKCC qualifications.

* for all ASA Clubs

** for anyone offering a learn to swim programme who is not an ASA affiliated club e.g. swim schools, leisure operators, local authorities, school swimming programmes, private health clubs, holiday learn to swim schemes.

*** for organisations running a school swimming programme

Swim 21 is a planning tool, based on the principles of Long Term Athlete Development, enabling clubs to help athletes, teachers, coaches and administrators to achieve their full potential. It focuses particularly on the needs of athletes - striving to provide them with the best possible support and environment.

Swim 21 Accreditation recognises nationally and regionally the clubs that are committed to providing safe, effective and quality services for the benefit of their members.
