Adlington teams up with her 'mini-me' at the British Gas Big Dip

Double Olympic Gold medallist and newly crowned world champion Rebecca Adlington has taken time out after her medal success at the World Championships to take a dip with her real life ‘mini-me’ 4-year-old swimming sensation Tae Smith.

The youngster, who stunned the swimming world last month when she swam an incredible 101 lengths nonstop, was invited by Rebecca to join her on Clapham Common in London at the British Gas Big Dip urban swimming festival which has been extended to 7 August 2011 (see video below).

Tae, from Poole, Dorset, only started swimming lessons in February and now practices for just an hour a week.

Swimming Offers in the South West

As part of ASA South West’s drive to get more people swimming, we have launched an online and household marketing campaign working with a number of target local authorities in the South West.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of swimming opportunities within local pools and encourage more participants back into swimming regularly. Based upon local population make up, specific individuals will be targeted with household flyers, with vouchers tailored to appeal. In addition the region will be placing online advertising to drive traffic searches to the swimming offers website.

The region has a target of increasing adult participation in regular swimming (moderate intensity swimming for at least 30 minutes once per week) by 7290 people by April 2012. The region is currently working with 13 local authorities and operators on the way they deliver swimming across their pools.
