I'm not prepared to accept no from someone who could have said yes in the first place," he said. "If an athlete thinks I'm pushing him too hard I say, 'Somewhere there's a place for you - but it ain't here'

      District Age Group BAGCAT points
    Printer friendly page |
Posted by: Admin  on Thursday, 16 June, 2005 - 08:30 AM CCT
Swimming Apologies but we have discovered that the BAGPOINTS displayed in the June District Age Group results are not currently using the 2005 definition file as expected. There is also a problem relating to the meet set-up incorrectly including sprints events which is affecting the category points earned for swimmers with birthdays between the end of the Age Groups and the Spint Meet.

Robert Margetts is working on supplying corrected files. For the time being, please ignore the BAGCAT points shown on the results pages.

Thanks to Ian and Lesley for their help in identifying the problem.

Calling all ex-dolphins, friends and colleagues of Laurie Dormer

Synchro Alison Beard, Organiser & Coach at Bournemouth Dolphins SC writes:

As you may have heard, Laurie Dormer is retiring from coaching in August 2005 after over 50 years of service, 21 of which have been with Bournemouth Dolphins. In honour of his dedication and unwavering enthusiasm for the sport Bournemouth Dolphins are hosting a ‘fun’ gala in honour of Laurie.

On a date to be confirmed shortly, an ‘old boys and girls’ swimming gala will be held. It will be in the format of a traditional colour gala with the longest distance being 100 IM, for the majority of the gala we will swim 50’s and 25’s! All of Laurie’s ex-swimmers from the past (whatever age and size now!) are invited to come back to Littledown and join in to show Laurie just how many people he has influenced over the years.

Races will be in age categories and anyone is invited to enter who has had contact with Laurie over the past 50 years, you will be sorted into teams beforehand to race against your peers of yesteryear! If you would like to enter please email with your name, your age, your preferred stroke (some of you will need to swim Fly!!) and distance and when you trained with Laurie.
